Keyboard shortcuts

Google Chrome is the latest browser product from Google. Retire Mr Mouse and be independent with your keyboard with these excellent Google Chrome keyboard shortcuts.
Keyboard shortcuts which are specific to Google Chrome features ONLY :
- Ctrl+B - Toggle bookmarks bar on and off
- Ctrl+H - View the History page
- Ctrl+J - View the Downloads page
- Shift+Escape - View the Task manager
These were the keyboard shortcuts that work only with Google Chrome. If you are well versed with keyboard shortcuts of Firefox then the ones listen below won’t be new for you.
Keyboard shortcuts which are common between Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox:
- Ctrl + N will open a new Window
- Press Ctrl, and clicking a link will open link in new tab.
- Press Shift, and clicking a link will open link in new window.
- Alt + F4 will close the current window.
- Ctrl + T will open a new tab.
- Ctrl + Shift + T will open the last tab that you closed. Google Chrome will remember last 10 tabs that you closed.
- Draging link to tab will open link in that tab.
Drag link to space between tabs will open link in new tab and the new tab will lie between the tabs where you pointed.
- Ctrl + 1 through Ctrl + 8 will switch you to tab of that specified number.
- Ctrl + Tab or Ctrl + PgDown will switch you to the next tab.
- Ctrl + Shift + Tab or Ctrl + PgUp will take you to previous tab.
- Ctrl + W or Ctrl + F4 close current tab or pop-up.
- Alt + Home will open your homepage.
- Ctrl + O will open the Open Window so that you can open some file.
Type a search term in the address bar and hit enter. This way you can search for that term in the default search engine of yours.
Type the part of the web address that’s between ‘www.’ and ‘.com’, then press Ctrl+Enter. This will append www and .com with the address and open the address bar.
- F6 or Ctrl + L or Alt + D will select the URL in address bar.
- Type a web address, then press Alt+Enter. will open the URL in new tab.
- Ctrl + B will turn the toggle bar either on or off.
- Ctrl + H will open the history page.
- Ctrl + J will open the Downloads page.
- Ctrl + P will print the current page if the printer is installed.
- F5 will re-load the current page.
- Esc will the loading of the page.
- Ctrl + F5 or Shift + F5 will re-load the current page and ignore the cache thus load the fresh version of that page.
- Pressing Alt, and then clicking a link will download the link.
- Ctrl + F will open the find-in search bar.
- Ctrl + G or F3 will take you to next match of the keyword that you searched in find-in search bar.
- Ctrl + Shift + G or Shift + F3 will take you to previous match of the keyword that you searched for in find-in search bar.
- Ctrl + U will open the source of the webpage.
- Drag link to bookmarks bar will bookmark the link.
- Ctrl + D will bookmark the currently open page.
- Ctrl + + will increase the size of text.
- Ctrl - - will decrease the size of text.
- Ctrl + 0 will return the text size to normal.
Backspace, or pressing Alt and the left arrow together will take you to previous page which you visited.
Shift + Backspace, or pressing Alt and the right arrow together will take you to the next page from where you just now came back.
Ctrl + K or Ctrl + E will insert a ‘?’ in the address bar so that you can search for any keyword in your default search engine. In Firefox this takes you to the search bar itself.
Placing your cursor in the address bar, then pressing Ctrl and the left arrow together and you will jump to previous word in the URL which is displaying in address bar.
Placing your cursor in the address bar, then pressing Ctrl and the right arrow together and you will jump to next word in the URL which is displaying in address bar.
Placing your cursor in the address bar, then pressing Ctrl+Backspace will delete the previous word from the URL which is being displayed in address bar.
Space bar will help you scroll down the currently open web page.
Home will take you to the top of the currently open page.
End will take you to the bottom of the currently open webpage.
Highlighting content, then pressing Ctrl + C will copy that content to clipboard.
Placing your cursor in a text field, then pressing Ctrl + V or Shift + Insert will paste the content from clipboard in the field.
Placing your cursor in a text field, then pressing Ctrl + Shift + V will paste the current content of clipboard but remove the formatting.
Highlighting content in a text field, then pressing Ctrl + X or Shift + Delete will delete that content and also copy that content to the clip board.
