Turbulent as the last 12 months have felt, 2008 may go on record as the year when the most important events in technology news were those that didn’t happen.Despite all the media’s coaxing, Microsoft and Yahoo! failed to consummate their star-crossed love affair. Google came away empty-handed from its bid to buy up swathes of radio frequency in the FCC’s spectrum auction. And even if he won’t appear at 2009’s Macworld, Steve Jobs did not die–a fact that may bewilder loyal readers of Bloomberg or CNN.com. (more…)

Google’s Voice-Search

The new voice-activated Google Mobile app for the iPhone is finally released. Whatever the reason for the delay, it was worth the wait. The search app knows when you bring the phone to your face to speak into it. It beeps, you talk, and it executes a Google search on what you said. (If you’re using a headset, you have to press a button. You can type in your queries, too, if you want.) (more…)

After Bill Gates showed interest in buying Yahoo the Sunnyvale, California-based company has been trying its best to retain hold of the reader base which it has earned in years. Looks like they are not ready to give up their business and Yahoo Shine is another attempt to cash on the 40 million females visitors which yahoo has in its bag. (more…)
